Travel quickly and comfortably to Geilo by train — it takes around 3 hours from Bergen and about 3.5 hours from Oslo. The VY trains on the Bergen Line pass through some of Norway’s most stunning, wild, and untouched landscapes. There are 5–6 arrivals and departures to and from Geilo every day. Tickets can be purchased via the VY app, online, or at the ticket machines at the station. Remember to buy your ticket before boarding.
The scenic RV7 highway is the fastest route between Oslo and Bergen, with Geilo located about halfway. RV7 crosses the Hardangervidda plateau and follows the Hardangerfjord, and is classified as a Norwegian National Tourist Route. You can also take the FV50 mountain road, stretching from west to east through magnificent landscapes between Aurland and Hol — from Hol, it’s just 10 km to Geilo. If you prefer, you can continue along FV40 through Numedal, passing Kongsberg, Larvik, and onwards to Tønsberg and Sandefjord. Geilo offers convenient parking and electric car charging stations.
